I was recently slotted to attend CTLC after Advance camp this summer. The CTLC slot happens to be DCLT at Fort Jackson. I’m curious to find out more information about what to actually expect once I’m there. I could barely find any information online regarding this. If anyone has gone before and can shed a little bit of light I would greatly appreciate it.

I hosted DCLT cadets at Fort Jackson during two different summers. First session was 2006 as an AIT Company XO. Second session was 2011 as a Basic Training Company Commander.

Expect to be working as junior cadre within the unit. The NCOs will generally respect you, but don't demand salutes since you have not commissioned yet. Don't fraternize with trainees because you may be similar age group. Typical duties include assisting with PT, paperwork assistance, weapons ranges or logistical support. Depending on how the leadership is, you may have long or short hours with Sundays as normal off-days.

Fort Jackson is located in Columbia, SC which is the state capitol. There are some things to do, but you will need car access (i.e. rental car, taxi, Uber/Lyft, etc.).

When I was Army ROTC before USAF OTS instead, the summer camp had been at Ft Bragg, though I was never able to go, one guy I'd known who was ahead of me got to go to Airborne and Ranger somehow after summer camp, I know that for a fact, though I have no clue how he managed it, I once saw him do a face first Australian rappel down the rappelling cliff at West Point, the unit I'd been in, it no longer exists, used to train up there a good deal....
