UNIFORM SHARE OF THE DAY

In a recent Armytimes Article:

Sergeant Major of the Army Dan Dailey wants to bring back the iconic Eisenhower jacket, and he needs your help. In a new survey to the force, Dailey wants to hear if soldiers like the idea of the waist length jacket made popular by Gen. Dwight Eisenhower during World War II.
The proposed jacket would “add one layer of etiquette” for soldiers who may need to go from the Class Bs to a more formal appearance without transitioning to the full Army Service Uniform jacket, Dailey said.
“I like it from a historical standpoint, history and honor,” Dailey said. “Eisenhower introduced the khaki version, and even though we’re in the blues today, it’s back to it.”
In addition to the Eisenhower jacket, the survey being sent to the force also will seek soldier feedback on several other uniform changes, including gender neutral head gear and black socks with the new PT uniform.
“We want to make sure soldiers get a chance to express their opinion,” Dailey said. “It was very important to the [Army chief of staff] and myself for soldiers to know we’re listening to them.”
The survey will go out to soldiers’ military email addresses in batches beginning this week, and it will likely be up for at least two weeks, or until a large enough portion of the force has responded, Dailey said. Even though Dailey has said he is “not going to be the uniform Sergeant Major,” he is pushing these potential changes to uniform items and wear in response to soldier feedback.
“I think we need an era of stabilization,” Dailey has said, even as the Army rolls out a new PT uniform and a new camouflage pattern for the Army Combat Uniform.
However, Dailey also is looking at how these changes could boost morale across the force.
“If you can raise motivation by fixing things that don’t really have a negative effect on the standards and discipline of the Army, why not?” Dailey said.

If you want a daily garrison service uniform but not full dress then bring back the khakis, they would be sharp!

CW3 Walter Goerner CW3 Walter, I've always felt that the "everybody gets a beret" was a sop to those who didn't make the Green Beret. I fully agree that we should go back to earlier caps.

LTC Stephen C. LTC Stephen, awesome! Now, if I could just find a good pair of low quarters, I wouldn't even mind keeping pantyhose on hand & a Bic.

Doesn't Under Armor hold smells? I've avoided it for that reason ... Summerweight wool is awesome & all you need carry is a portable steamer! Of course, I'm sure there's a way to get sharp creases where wanted. Fine men's suits have them!

Amn Jennifer Lee (Doerflinger) Hill - A very large majority of us said NO to a survey for switching from the garrison cap to the beret back in the 90's when he became Army Chief of Staff. I've heard it said that he did this because of years of animosity for graduating the Ranger course but never being assigned to a Ranger unit and thus being able to wear the black beret. On top of that, he ordered the Rangers to change from a black beret to brown.

More uniform changes; less training!

Some new recruiting slogans.

"An Army of One...Uniform After Another!"

"Indecisive? Join the Army! We can't even decide what uniform to wear."

"Want to kill terrorist? Join the Marines! You want to have a locker full of flashy uniforms? Join the Army!"

"Army! Thank God were not the Air Force!"

CSM Charles Hayden - Yes, that jacket appears to be Olive Drab shade 33 which was standard color of the U.S. Army. Commissioned & warrant officers sometimes wore a darker jacket -- Olive Drab shade 51; sometimes with lighter color trousers -- Olive Drab shade 54 ("pinks & greens"). Anyone interested in this subject would do well to read the "U.S. ARMY UNIFORMS..." series of books by Shelby Stanton.
