As of right now the Army Instructor Badge is only availible to NCOES SGL/Instructors. There has been no mention of AIT/IET Instructors or Specialty Instructors (Airborne, Air Assult)recieving this. Does anyone have any information on this or know of a change that is coming out?

Yes, I believe if you hold the '8' identifier and have met all requirements by TRADOC to instruct then you should be awarded that badge. Past and present instructors should be authorized to wear it.

1SG and SFC, I never stated that this was a fact. My response starts with "I believe" because I was stating my opinion. I still do not think it should only apply to NCOES instructors at all. It should be available to everyone who has met the criteria. I understand that I said yes but it was in response to something else and for some reason my comment did not post as a reply to that person.

There is a gray area, Phase 3 instructors can earn the badge also. They are not assigned to the NCOES but teach under the NCOES for phase 3. The Program manager(CMDT or Deputy CMDT) can allow those NCOs to earn the badge.

The TRADOC SGM spoke to us when I was in SLC back in August. I brought up the badge and he stated that it is coming for AIT and other instructors as well. PME starts at our level, so why are we considered any less of an instructor?

Sure would be nice to receive that recognition because instructing AIT level is so much more than just the academics.

Yes, yes it should. AIT instructors spend FAR more time with their students than NCOES instructors...

AIT instructing is a challenging and exacting specialty, where future NCOs are molded. The instructors need all the recognition.

You know what my answer is going to be SSG Plato.  Yes, anybody that is a qualified military instructor and has and "8" identifier should be authorized to wear the badge, not just NCOES.  It would be the same thing if only Basic Training Drill Sergeants could wear the badge and not AIT Drill Sergeants (when we had them).

I agree, its like saying your level of instructing isn't good enough to wear the badge.
