I am originally from Australia but never was in the military forces. I have a number of patches and chevrons which i purchased in Australia and not being from a military family or background, i really wanted to know what ranks they are. Pictures are enclosed. Regards Hal

Hal,
Your first insignia is a USAF Senior Airman enlisted rank: E-3
The second (with the "rocker" stripe below the star) is a Staff Sergeant (E-4) ...this insignia is in "subdued" color scheme, which would be used on fatigues.
The third is old. This Used to be a Senior Airman (E-3) rank. If the star was "filled in" like in the first picture you were a "buck sergeant" - Still an E-3, but considered a Non-Comissioned Officer (NCO). USAF did away with this mess a while ago.
The epaulets are worn by AFROTC cadets. I believe this is a cadet sergeant.
The last patch is from a sheriff's department in Lorraine County, Ohio. Not military.
