A simple mistake I knew would be fixed since they are under Homeland Security and fall under the Navy in times of a declared war.

I am glad you thought the same thing and you were Navy and I'm not so I can't understand how could people in Congress or the current Administration with military experience like never before make such a mistake like this? Where is the vetting?

Cutting funds for the Coast Guard would be a travesty. Not only does the Coast Guard defend our shores, they also help our citizens in need upon the water. Any budget cuts made in haste without great attention to detail could have potentially disastrous consequences for this country.
