I'm a prior service Marine, I did my four years and got out with an Honorable Discharge as a Corporal. I'm a Firefighter and EMT-B with my local part time department. I've been thinking about joing the Navy reserves to become a FMF Corpsman. So I'm looking for some insight on the matter from anyone that went through roughly the same situation.

Recruiter would have the best answer.

My corpsman buddy says you might skip boot but would have to do corpsman training. They don't require them to have an EMT.
If you went army you skip the whole EMT and just do the combat medic "whiskey" training. Not sure if you'd have to go to basic. I think it depends on how long you've been out.

Get to a recruiter!

When I switch from active to the reserves there was a marine Sgt switching over the same day as me. He kept E5 and will be going to HM school later this year.
