Is the only way to register for SSD-1 is through my unit or training NCO?

I just recently join the national guard last month after a 7 year break in service and I haven’t been to my unit yet cause they are current in the mobilization process and I’m an suppose to mob with them later.I am new to the SSD1 training and things. I want to know how do I register for the course or doi have to wait til I get with my unit after we overseas for them to register me for the course?

Get a CAC reader for home use, go to ALMS and access the course (it's already there) Complete it from home and you can submit a 1380 and receive pay for it

Yes, buy a CAC reader off of eBay , it will work right away with most newer model laptops.

In the case here, you were probably enrolled(auto enrollment started in Oct 2010) and never started and got removed during your break in service. Get with your training NCO and you’ll get squared away.
