Thank you for sharing your story Major. My dad lost everything when the communists came to the Ukraine and tried to kill the intellectuals. He escaped to Germany and was later drafted into the German army to fight WW2. He ended up a prisoner of war in France and had only the shirt on his back at the end of the war. In his heart he wanted to come to America where a man was free to live his life and be successful based on hard work. He loved America and instilled the importance of freedom in my heart. I decided when I was a kid that freedom was worth defending and joined up as soon as I was albe to in order to give back to my country what it gave my dad and family. God bless you in your career.

CPO Bernie Penkin i feel the same was as your father and becoming an American Citizen was my best day ever and it was one of the reasons that had compelled me to serve in the US military from which I am now retired.

I served in Europe for almost 8 years. One of our biggest advantages was our 10th Special Forces Group (Europe) (ABN) which had a strong background in Eastern Europe. There were native-speaking Germans, Czechs, Poles, and Hungarians, and many others. The original 77th Special Forces Group (Trojan Horse) was based on many eastern European refugee soldiers who had been admitted under the Lodge Act. The Russians were rightly fearful of these formidable soldiers who had fled their tyranny but who were NOT afraid of fighting them under more equal odds in the future. Thanks to all of our terrific emigre servicemen who have done such great work for us for so many years.

Thank you for your dads story, and I am sure he is very proud of you for your service as we are. It had to have been difficult for him to serve WW11- Germany when he didn't like their ideology. Thanks again.

I've Lived all my Life(almost 70 Y/o) under FREEDOM afforded to us by the Sacrifices of Our Armed Services Personnel. I know the Cost of it.. Back in the Days when Our INDEPENDENCE Was Enacted (1776) There was so much PATRIOTISM then After.. To this Day I enjoy every Day as a FREE person. SADLY; there are (many) people that are SO ignorant about the Constitution and Disrespectful to our Heritage, Mainly Because NONE of these Facts are no Longer taught in Schools anymore.. The last two Generations have been Misled to Believe otherwise. The Parents themselves are to Blame for not (they don't know any better) Instilling PATRIOTISM onto their Children. U.S.A ! I love my Country( I wasn't even Borne Here, in one of the territories ) and am informed about it's development since it's inception.. I studied /Learned about AMERICAN History( It was a Mandatory Subject Matter for H.S Graduation). Is NOT included anymore in School Curriculum .. SAD SAD SAD FACT.. GOD BLESS the U S of AMERICA... Thank You MAJOR for Your Service...

SFC (Join to see) - fantastic point. I highly doubt these folks realize the pledge of allegience was written by a socialist, who preached against the evil of capitalism. And how Jesus was a socialist.

SGT (Join to see) - Or how it was invented as a marketing tool to sell flags for Columbus Day...and did not include "so help me god" until 1954, and that it used to have a salute until the Nazis came around and it got changed because it looked too much like the Nazi salute.

SFC (Join to see) - what I enjoy/find frustrating here on the Point is that when engaged in a discussion, several rallypointers simply stop responding or block you if you give them doses of facts, reality or history.
They have their minds made up (despite no real knowledge on a topic). And when presented with a different set of ideas (ie: the facts) that doesn’t mesh with whatever narrative that they’ve internally constructed, they act like a fembot from Austin Powers.
It’s actually unfortunate.

SGT (Join to see) - The only time I block people is if they cross a line or I get tired of their asinine and far off comments and need a break from it for awhile. I usually go unblock them after the 10 days. But I have gone to comment on posts and find out I'm blocked. It is frustrating and yet interesting.
