If you are an E-6 and have your degree, are you able to direct commission? If so, how?

What is an E-6? What is an E-7?
Why refer to the enlisted Soldier in the form of a paygrade, and the Commissioned Soldier in formal rank?
Are you an E-6, simply a paygrade - or are you a Staff Sergeant? When I hear these references discussed (especially in an open forum - like during a QTB/Command & Staff etc.) I make it a point to refer to the Officer in paygrade as well.

Pay grades are more universally understood in this mixed forum of multiple services where the ranks in each service are different.

I know some Staff Sergeants performing like an E-6. Should have been in the Army of the Spec-6 era!

I'm in the process of completing my Warrant Officer packet. I went to both pre-OCS and pre-WOCS, and between the two experiences, WOCS is definitely my calling.

You can direct commission for any branch. You only need a Bachelors, under 41 and a GT score of 110 or higher. You just need to go see a Career Counselor and ask for an Officer Accessions NCO to talk to. I have a friend that just did his physical to commission as an Engineer Officer. He's just waiting for the next board to convene. Good luck!
