I'm so nervous, anxious, and stressed out about what is to come in phase 1 traditional OCS. It's basically the only thing I've been thinking about. I want this so bad and have sacrificed so much this far, Im terrified at the thought of failure. However God himself revealed His word to me and it was perfect. I take it as him saying "Chill son, we got this!" I hope this word is useful to anyone who feels the way I do when faced with an oncoming challenge.

Relax. If you are in shape and are competent, the worst thing that is going to happen is being harassed by the TAC's. Pay attention to the schedule, pay attention to details and read the syllabus and required material before classes. It's a mixed unit, they really can't push PT too hard without killing the lower third of the class and the academics aren't that difficult if you take the time to read the material. Act like you want your leaders to act in your assigned position and it all goes pretty quick. By Traditional, I take you mean the extended OCS over the course of 14 months or so, which does present the additional challenge of having to motivate yourself every month to show up with the right attitude. Take it one day at a time.
I still don't like TAC's and I commissioned in 1985. Long time to hold a grudge, isn't it.

MAJ Ken Landgren, read CPT Lawrence Cable's narrative above for an explanation of Phase 1. It's NG-OCS.

Get yourself a 2LT bar and pin it inside your daily cover. When the going gets tough look at that bar.. know that’s the objective and overcome the “obstacles”.

LTC Trent Klug As an OCS guy I do think it’s funny... till the Tac Officer put you in the front leaning rest position...

Marc is correct. We had a Training officer at Fort McClellan AIT who told us to get a Second Lieutenant bar and pin it on the inside of our helmet liner so every time you took your helmet liner off, you would see your goal. I did that. :-) My class started with 280 and six months later we graduated 160.
