The yellow ribbon program is for veterans. I have been denied this because active duty G2G. Should I be granted the yellow ribbon program?

I appreciate the input. The VA representative at my university sent me a simple email saying "You are active duty, so you are ineligible for the yellow ribbon program". I'm coordinating with the PMS to see if anything can be done. I'll have to take out a student loan if I do not get the yellow ribbon program.

2LT (Join to see) - Well, that is the technical wording of the Yellow Ribbon Agreement they signed -- that active duty are not eligible. But universities have broad latitude to make exceptions. I would certainly be one to go to bat for a G2G troop if it happened here at UI. Hopefully somebody at your university will do the same for you.

The P912 bill covers tuition up to a certain financial amount per semester. I believe it's $22,805.34 annually, so $11,402.67 a semester. With grants and the p911 bill combined, in short about $4,600 each semester. I am attending a private university (family school) in California, which is $16,000 per semester.

Apologies for the over explanation, it's my mental battle right now and I'm just trying to avoid student loans.

The "Forever" GI Bill that passed Congress and is on its way to the President for signature will fix this active-duty loophole for the Yellow Ribbon program, but that one help you and probably won't take hold for a couple years. I recommend you talk with the school's financial aid folks to see what might be possible for waivers, although private schools tend to be less flexible.
