What are some challenges within the branch?
How does FA affect current army ops?
Any important history I should talk about?
anything else I should talk about?
Thanks!

- "I don't have to tell you who won the war. The Artillery did.".... General George Patton
- The first active military unit in the Army was Alexander Hamilton's Artillery Battery defending New York Harbor from the southern tip of Manhattan. The area is STILL called "The Battery". Today's 5th FA Regiment ("Hamilton's OWN!") traces it lineage to this unit.
- FA remains dynamic. New ideas led to innovative new systems like Paladin, MLRS/ATCMS (causing the retirement of my beloved 8" M110A2). FA had the first gunnery computer (FADAC) and morphed into AFATDS. Meanwhile, new projectiles emerged based on laser guidance, GPS, DPICM, RAP rounds, and more.
- After years of concentrating on the projectiles FA is now planning on automating ammunition handling from factory to launch.
- FA is always innovating, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Tactics like "Batman and Robin" (combining Attack Aviation and FA) sometimes work, sometimes don't. But new ideas are always welcome.
- And there is always the Infantry ("Queen of Battle") and Artillery (King of Battle") getting together.
- And the SPIRIT of FA should never be forgotten: "To kill all the godless enemy by the thousands, rearrange terrain, and make cave dwelling an acceptable standard of living in their homeland."

I would add;
- FA iperational integration with the other branches
- the various FA equipment
- a general career path for FA officers
- the various MOS (enlisted and officer) under the FA title
- general overview of FA resources in the Reserves and NG.

Have fun when you brief!
