PO1 William "Chip" Nagel ... Yes it ultimately was a dollars & cents decision: Refurbish v. Build New. Hopefully they'll be able to replace the ship in a couple of years.

That is so sad! I hope they were able to take parts of the ship and keep them for spares in the rest of the family of LHAs

LTC (Join to see) One of the First Things that is Done when a Ship is Decommissioned a "Salvage Party" On USS California CGN-36 and USS Arkansas CGN-41 we had a Few Thing that Came from the Neighboring "Ghost" Fleet. I Know Lots of the Damage Control Equipment will be Recycled.
