This is how the UN operates. The UN committee on women's rights is stacked with Muslim countries. See a little hypocrisy here? Check out the one on human rights? Has some of the worst violators who then accuse the US and Israel of being terrible places. Disband the UN or at least get it off our property and stop paying their way.

I have felt the U.N. is a biased organization who “claim” to seek only a unified existence among the Nations.

As a specialist in the Army during the Battle of Mogadishu, October 3-4 in 1993, it was then I developed my own opinion, and that opinion was that the late entry to participate in the U.N. “parade through mogadishu” (my own term for an organization that had their arms twisted into helping the US during this battle, and then sending a convoy of pretty white military vehicles traveling through to essentially and reluctantly offer us an armored departure while all the while simply cowering in vehicles while our boys were hungry, tired, low on ammo, and having to dodge rounds, return fire and carry wounded while the majority of the U.N. troops opted to go with the Penguins of Madagascar’s motto, “Smile and wave boys, smile and wave.“; to me, they simply treated it like a parade.)

It’s always struck me as a bit odd that as tweaked up and upset as this crowd was, when the U.N. came in, they opted to start relenting fire on the U.N. vehicles.

Think about it; they shot down two US military choppers piloted by SOCOM pilots. Granted the military did not have a great escape strategy, it makes no sense to me that the Somalians had a plan to cripple the Rangers and Delta Forces escape by organized roadblocks and established areas of a strategic advantage, in the off shot that they would be able to shoot down not only 1, but 2 SOAR Blackhawks, and not be able to inflict the same damage on a U.N. convoy sent to save Americans.

Maybe, and most likely, there was no elaborate military actions taken by the Somalians on the U.N. because the U.N. favors the Somalians over the Americans, and on the day of the U.N. rescue, the Somalians returned the favor of not decimating the U.N. Forces because the U.N. “peacekeeping” force had simply asked them to do so.

That was my first true experience with the U.N., and where I simply said they were useless. From these stories, such as your share Lt Col Charlie Brown, I realize they are not only useless, but inasmuch as the majority of this organization and often times majority of vote are Middle Eastern with anti-Christian and anti-Semitic views, this puts the organization not only useless, but instead a threat to the National Security of the US, Israel, and any other country that does not hold to their views.

Thank you for your comment ma’am. You’ve given me some more information to research.

Thank you my friend SGT Michael Thorin for making us aware the rather unsurprising news that the United Nations [non-classified] report left out many of the horrific casualty details of the chemical attacks in Syria.
Part of the reason no doubt is that the chemical attacks were most likely carried out by a mixture of Syrian government assets, Russian military assets and rebel groups as well as ISIS.

Another clear reason to consider before you fire a round not knowing where it’s headed. Thank you for the input and information LTC Stephen F..

I had post this report and asked for opinions because I wanted to get others perspectives on the report.

So far, I am getting a great deal of useful info that I can use to start to formulate at least some King of fact based opinion.

I love RP because we can put stuff out there to get other brothers and sisters in arms knowledge and insight.

I never want to developer a stance on an issue simply from a bias that I have developed from a one sided view.

I feel like I am getting some “no #%*^” observations from my friends, and I thank you all for participated.

It appears they are confirming chemical weapons use second hand via reported symptoms and witness accounts rather than through direct sampling. This can be problematic, though getting direct sampling in a timeframe where it would be useful for evidentiary purposes is problematic as well. Within the reports there are a lot of inconsistencies; take for example:
- Chlorine: Is heavier than air and will settle, but it is not "slow acting" - it acts very rapidly, but it does have distinct warning properties that would allow anyone exposed to evacuate, unless they were trapped under fire.
- Phosgene (a WWI lung attacking agent) could present some of the symptoms described, but phosgene can also occur due to industrial fires, especially with the burning of A/C refrigerant and some plastics... could it have been secondary?
- The description could also be of a cyanide based agent (blood agent) that causes rapid death and effects blood circulation. These agents do not allow blood to deliver oxygen and victims can either have a bright pink appearance, or bluish (cyanosis).

I understand chemical weapons are prohibited, but are the "horrific details" really needed. The effects of conventional HE artillery are pretty horrific. Would the people that had a chemical round land on their building really be that much better off had it been a 155 artillery round? Probably not.

MSgt Steve Sweeney, I greatly appreciate your input. I have always found myself demanding that I view all information, and try to be objective in my views.

You have given a pretty reasonable example as to why they want more info, and are not comfortable with releasing it.

Now, I still feel the U.N. is all things mentioned before, but at least they have a valid reason for doing what they are doing. I still don’t trust them, but all information you have given is not only interesting, but has brought some reason and logic as to this specific situation. I appreciate your input and can say that you have helped me learn something new today. TM MSGT Sweeney, IMHO one of the greatest gifts you can give outside of redemption is knowledge. From the second I learn something new, that day I can claim victory on.

Sounds sappy, I know, but I’m indecently sappy, so it’s a win for me, LOL.
