Unlike their American counterparts, French sailors can celebrate #NationalDrinkWineDay at sea. On the Charles de Gaulle, wine (along with champagne, beer, cognac and other liquor) is available in the aircraft carrier's four bars. Sailors are allowed one drink per day but not before they go on watch. Their IDs are scanned to ensure that they do not surpass the limit. Pilots cannot drink four hours before flying.

What size is that one beer? I remember one Sunday during Basic Training after we had qualified on weapons, we were allowed one beer. The extra large was BIG! After not having any alcohol for nearly 12 weeks, I was feeling gooooood!

I stayed at Fort Jackson for AIT (B-12-3), SGT (Join to see). By 11MAR70, I was an Indirect Fire Infantryman, 11C10. I never, ever had to go to Fort Polk, PTL!

LTC Stephen C. On returning CONUS from ? the second brother accepted an assignment to Ft Polk although he owned a house near Ft Benning. When queried as to why he was going to Ft Polk, his response: “I’ve never been there”!

I served in the 15th Psychological Operations Battalion (USAR) when I lived in Cincinnati, OH in the mid-eighties. At every holiday meal (usually Thanksgiving and Christmas), the battalion commander and the HHC commander (me) would buy wine for all the soldiers and family members. We bought plenty, and our mess sergeant bordered on being a gourmet chef, so everyone enjoyed the dining experience.
I was always glad to provide the treat.

CPT (Join to see) - Nice Eric. I have a two tone Submariner with diamond dial thats about 20 years old and as much as I love the watch, I hardly wear it anymore. My Apple watch I can see in the dark and it alerts me to phone calls and other things. I actually wore my Rolex on a two night away from home trip last week and wore out to bed. I woke up to look at the time, you can't see it!
