Could be. One thing is sure France has a bunch of internal problems and doesn't need any imported from this nation.

The US has been exporting it's right-wing extremism for a generation, and is what gave rise to Brexit almost saw us losing France to LaPenne, has absolutely decimated the politics of Poland and Ukraine, and has done unimaginable harm in Africa.

France has had it's own undercurrent of racial animus broiling for generations given it's foreign legion and it's holdings in Africa. Though, Macron is right in noting that France at it's worst is a world better than things in America, so the comparison isn't entirely fair.
