Good morning Rally Point and hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. I will be once I finish up my Red Cross work for today. Hoping to do some grilling out...the weather is changing and we try to get in some BBQ while we can.
Awareness...I am always amazed when I encounter someone who truly doesn't seem to have awareness of what is going on in their life, their job, their relationships. You can't change things that you don't like if you don't start with an awareness of what's happening and why it is so. Some seem to be unaware of their part in a situation, how their own behavior can make things either better or worse. They simply seem to be tone deaf to their own words and actions. Sometimes you have to put it right in front of them to get results. How well do you see and hear yourself? Are your actions improving a situation or do you need to take a step back, evaluate and readjust?

Saints Louis Martin and Zélie Guérin

Saints of the Day for September 25
Saint Louis Martin (August 22, 1823 - July 29, 1894) and Saint Zélie Guérin (December 23, 1831 - August 28, 1877)

Saints Louis Martin and Zélie Guérin's Story
Born into a military family in Bordeaux, Louis trained to become a watchmaker. His desire to join a religious community went unfulfilled because he didn’t know Latin. Moving to Normandy, he met the highly-skilled lace maker, Zélie Guérin, who also had been disappointed in her attempts to enter religious life. They married in 1858, and over the years were blessed with nine children, though two sons and two daughters died in infancy.
Louis managed the lace-making business that Zélie continued at home while raising their children. She died from breast cancer in 1877.
Louis then moved the family to Lisieux to be near his brother and sister-in-law, who helped with the education of his five surviving girls. His health began to fail after his 15-year-old daughter entered the Monastery of Mount Carmel at Lisieux in 1888. Louis died in 1894, a few months after being committed to a sanitarium.
The home that Louis and Zélie created nurtured the sanctity of all their children, but especially their youngest, who is known to us as Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus. Louis and Zélie were beatified in 2008, and canonized by Pope Francis on October 18, 2015. The liturgical feast of Saints Louis Martin and Zélie Guérin is celebrated on July 12.

Reflection
In life, Louis and Zélie knew great joy and excruciating sorrow. They firmly believed that God was with them throughout every challenge that married life, parenting, and their occupations presented.

I expect you have keen situational awareness, increasingly good listening skills, and you can quickly size up virtually any situation. I pray that you and I will always be content and yet hopeful in whatever situation and circumstances we are in including our health and the health of those we love. I expect you recognize that God is working all for good during these challenging times. I expect that you have experienced the peace of God in challenging times more than once. No doubt you have learned to care and have compassion without worrying. ‘The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’ [Philippians 5b-7 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

I pray for sustaining hope, eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart sensitive to the Holy Spirit and sufficient fruit of the Spirit humility and self-control for adopted son and daughter who reads this prayer or listens to it. LORD I pray that YOU empower each of us to be ambassadors for peace in these challenging times. YOU are working all to good for the body of Christ corporately and each of us individually in YOUR perfect timing. 'do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.' [Philippians 4:6-7 ESV]
I am thankful that YOU are strengthening the character and fortitude of each of us as YOU prepare us for what YOU know we will be confronted with. I expect you appreciate the types of challenges which stimulate your mind without too much stress on your talents and resources. No doubt you are aware of the admonitions of the LORD to submit our plans to HIM and rely on HIS guidance. ‘Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.’ [James 1:12 ESV]
I lift US Citizens, green card holders, Afghanis who assisted the US and allies, citizens of other nations still stuck in Afghanistan, POWS held by the Taliban, women and girls at risk of being killed, and others left behind by the US government in the evacuation of Afghanistan supervised by the US Department of State to YOU dear LORD. YOU are aware of all from the beginning of time to the end. I pray that YOU bless the volunteer veterans working to bring many Afghanis and others safely to freedom outside Afghanistan. I pray that YOU blind the Pakistani ISI from locating any at risk individuals. I pray that YOU free most of the captives and any captive who dies is YOUR adopted child. ‘Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.’ [Proverbs 19:21 ESV]
I pray that you and I heed the admonition of the LORD about being aware.
a. ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways submit to Him and HE will make your path straight.’ [Proverbs 3:5-6]
b. ‘Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.’ [Hebrews 13:1-3 ESV]
I pray that you and those you love are healthy and that you each sleep well Saturday night and each awake refreshed Sunday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Good Saturday morning to all Veterans wherever you are on this Blue Marble we call Earth!!! I am headed out to watch my grandson play football for his high school Junior Varsity game... Can't wait! He is all ready 6ft tall!!! More to follow!

Today is: “Awareness Day!” Why Not?

"Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves." - Carl Jung

"Wisdom tends to grow in proportion to one's awareness of one's ignorance." - Anthony de Mello

"Let us not look back in anger, nor forward in fear, but around in awareness." - James Thurber

"The ultimate value of life depends upon awareness and the power of contemplation rather than upon mere survival." - Aristotle

"We are the miracle of force and matter making itself over into imagination and will. Incredible. The Life Force experimenting with forms. You for one. Me for another. The Universe has shouted itself alive. We are one of the shouts." - Ray Bradbury

"The awareness that we are all human beings together has become lost in war and through politics." - Albert Schweitzer

"Every human has four endowments - self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom... The power to choose, to respond, to change." - Stephen Covey

It is also important to understand and know that...

“Leaders that have situational awareness have an outward focus, along with listening, observing, and considering the dynamic of any given situation. They also have an inward awareness on how to manage their strengths and struggles in the most effective way. — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Prayer and Action

There surely is a world of difference between the prayer of action and that of silence or word. Here it is not by listening and responding, not by diving down into silence, but by acting, by doing, that I communicate with God. Whatever I can do lovingly can become prayer of action. Nor is it necessary that I explicitly think of God while working or playing. Sometimes this would hardly be possible. While proofreading a manuscript, I better keep my mind on the text, not on God. If my mind is torn between the two, the typos will slip through like little fish through a torn net. God will be present precisely in the loving attention I give to the work entrusted to me. By giving myself fully and lovingly to that work, I give myself fully to God. This happens not only in work but also in play, say, in bird-watching or in watching a good movie. God must be enjoying it in me, when I am enjoying it in God. Is not this communion the essence of praying?
— from the book The Way of Silence: Engaging the Sacred in Daily Life by Brother David Steindl-Rast

I sure we've all run across those who 'haven't a clue', sorry but I choose not to hang around with that type! As military folks, I think most of understand the concept of situational awareness, those who have that are the type I prefer to hang around with.
