A Border Patrol agent who intentionally hit a Guatemalan migrant with his truck in Arizona in 2017 has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanour charge, according to a document filed in federal court on Monday.
The agent, Matthew Bowen, also sent a text message referring to immigrants as “subhuman” and “mindless murdering savages”, the court heard.
He will face up to one year in prison and could be fined $100,000 when he is sentenced on 15 October for deprivation of rights under colour of law, according to the plea agreement.

A misdemeanour seems a bit light but I understand that happens with plea deals. I wonder if it wouldn't have been better to throw the book at him to send a message.

I just want equal justice under the law. This sorry excuse for a PBA should not be anywhere near the profession with what he said. The radical right will lift him up as a victim I'm sure.

What the patrolman did was wrong, but the man he hit was not a migrant or immigrant. The victim was an illegal alien.
