I think the price of the war shows and it puts a face on it with the graves of civilians murdered along just one section of roadway showing what they looked like and who they were. To help rebuild and see the efforts first hand must make the Iowa Guard People feel pretty good to know they are making a difference.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter I am entering my third year in this endeavor. I have helped write SOP and plan for the future direction, equipment, and personnel needs for their medical services. It has become my second home unofficially. I am 20 years older than most serving, but they have seen more than I ever will. The stories of villages and families being massacred is eye-opening. They appreciate our involvement very much. It is very humbling to be somewhere at the beginning and shaping the future. I would have never saw that in my younger self.
