I have been at the Regional Cyber Center right next door to 160th since October 2018. While you are coming to the desert and you should be prepared for the heat, don't neglect the fact that it does get very cold here in the winter months. Bring some cold weather gear. This past winter it also rained a *lot*. There was major flooding on multiple occasions, to the point of shutting down the local highways.

There are two DFACs within short walking distance of 160th and the barracks. Both are good. As an E7 you'll pocket your BAS and be expected to pay for meals at the DFAC. There are two pretty well stocked PXs so you don't need to worry about bringing anything with you if you prefer to travel light. I can't vouch for 160th specifically on this, but the off-post travel policy is pretty lenient in general here in Kuwait. We take trips off post pretty often to the huge mall, the "bazaar" style market and the big grocery store.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to message me.

The buildings are decent enough. You'll have your own bedroom and share a kitchen/bathroom with one other person. There is wireless internet available for purchase in the buildings but I haven't met anyone that successfully used it. Everyone just buys a puck for internet. The room comes with a TV and there is cable, but it's just a few channels.

Do you know or is there a link to what kind of trips there are off post?

The Arifjan MWR does group trips off post. They have a facebook page where it's all posted. Every unit also does their own things. At my unit we frequently go to the bazaar in Fahaheel, the huge mall in Kuwait City and a local grocery store call LuLu's. We also went to a paintball range once last year.

I was there back in 2013-14 and it wasn’t bad at all. They’re constantly changing leadership so that’s one of the positives about being there and they are always consistent with ops. The base, Camp Arifjan, is the best in the area. You get all the luxuries and amenities that comes with it. The best thing about being there is that since you are a 25B, like I was, you have all the classes and certifications at your fingertips. It’s strongly recommended by the CoC to get whatever certs you can that you don’t have already. I left there with CEH, Net+ and A+, and was a voucher away from ISC2 (Cissp). Overall it wasn’t bad there and again keep in mind that was my experience back then (2013-14).
