somewhere I have a picture of all of the flies. I remember we'd cut a water bottle in half and put some kind of bait in there that would kill the flies.

I never knew what woke me up first....the flies or the heat. We had fly covers for our tents; but, that also kept out the precious breeze. so if you had the fly protection the heat woke you up.

If you went without it i might get an extra half an hour before the flies did.

The cat's name was Charlie. My FSG was also a vietnam vet and we found him at a gas station in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere. The cat just hopped in our truck and rode with us the next several hours until we got back to our main camp.

I honestly can't tell. It may have been. I never drove any civilian vehicles while I was there. I do remember many of our officers that got assigned some with AC and how annoyed they would get when they had to row down their windows at checkpoints to give the password of the day.
