There are are couple of possible sources for these arms. One is the well established drugs for guns trade in Tajikistan. As the Taliban is fighting ISIS in the region I could see how the trade is condoned if not sponsored by local officials. Gulmurod Halimov (US Trained - not surprised) defected in 2015 to become ISIS’ supreme military commander. As such a lot of Tijiks joined ISIS only to blow themselves up in Syria. While there were reports in April he was killed I 'm thinking local officials are still siding with the Taliban more so that its own military and will help arm T'man by any means possible. The other is indeed direct Russian assistance - reports coming out of the area suggests the Taliban and Russia are talking. Again just guessing but I bet Russia trusts Taliban over supporting local military in the area. I'm sure Russia is well aware as well Tajiks are joining ISIS and are showing up in Syria in droves inspiring to be the next Gulmurod Halimov.

On a side note and related Tajikistan is setting up to be the next best place to be if your a Terrorist. Wouldn't be surprised if we or Russia is in there in 5 to 10 years.

With no identifying marks, there's no way of knowing. And the Taliban isn't going to give up their source freely. If they did come out of Russia it was more likely Chechnya than the Kremlin. It could have been one of the other 'Stans in the region. It could've been Iran. It could've been SA, Qatar, UAE. Heck, it could've been China. They share a border and I'm sure that the Chinese would love to appease the Taliban to keep their resource interests safe.

The weapons could have come from a China Town Mobster, Gun Control Advocate, Gun Trafficker, and ex-Califorina Democrat LeLand Yee also.

Of course they are. Where do they get these never ending supplies of AK47's?
