Would a kuwait team qualify for the OIR campaign medal?

We deployed as a counterfire element in support of OIR, we had multiple teams within the OIR borders with one team in kuwait for operations. Since all our missions where based on OIR and we have many troops in country would the kuwait team qualify for the OIR campaign ribbon along with the rest of the element? If so please list reg.

It’s not based on unit. It’s based on individuals time in Iraq. Has nothing to do with the mission and has nothing to do with the unit. If you spent the required time cumulatively or the required time consecutively in Iraq, not pointing guns at Iraq, in Iraq, the that individual meets the criteria for the OIR campaign medal.

Look in AR 600-8-22. That will tell you all the required criteria to meet IOT receive the OIR medal. But, if memory serves from the last time I read it, Kuwait does not fit the bill.
