Can someone please explain in plain language why we have contingency plans to invade Greenland and Panama? I honestly don’t see the threat or a reason to invade.

We have contingency plans for every scenario and for every country.

One would hope.
When OEF kicked off, we were neck deep in training on the 22nd revision of the CONPLAN for Iraq, only to find there was none for Afghanistan.
We were originally handed Air Force JOG maps and Russian 1:50Ks

SGM Jeff Mccloud I remember going into to the central regions of Panama with maps that had blank areas as they were made before the tech to penetrate cloud cover to assist with cartography. Grids lines into nothingness.

There's a plan for EVERYTHING. That's not intent.

Well, lucky for us no one has directly communicated intent by saying something like, I don't know, maybe;
"we have to have Greenland"
“We need Greenland very badly,”
"So we'll, I think, we'll go as far as we have to go. We need Greenland."
"One way or the other, we're going to get it"
