On assignment to Qatar. 1 year. Unaccompanied. Any 11Zs want the assignment or trade? I want to stay at Bragg or go to Carson or DC area.

SFC (Join to see) - DC would work well for me...but that's more for family reasons. I'm originally from the area.

Roger Top, if you're used to dealing with it and family is around I could see, for me there's only so much I can take of terrible drivers. I heard it explained as take all the different bad driving habits from all over the WORLD in one small metro area and that pretty much sums it up haha... But the history and things to see in the NCR and surrounding states are amazing, can't knock that at all...

Fort Carson is amazing. If you hate your unit, you'll hate everything. The altitude is easy to get by.

I think what it is that really just grinds my gears (as well as others I've met) is the OP Tempo. We're always moving and planning the next big event there is no time to recover our gear, let alone ourselves. We've had many talks such as this in the shop as well as then CO sensing sessions. To boot, we don't train correctly it ends up being more of a "check the block" than actual understanding the concept/type/WTF it is training.

I'm sure there are people who like it, I don't doubt that at all! Nor do I want them to not like it! I want everyone (including myself) to enjoy where they work! I just currently don't see it being that way here.

Everyone has different perspectives on their assignments. Frankly, if this were a different point in my life/career, I'd jump all over this assignment.

But I'm trying to stay competitive for SGM and this assignment doesn't help me. I need to stay on Bragg, or PCS to a place where I can compete for an HHC 1SG position. Qatar would place my career trajectory on pause for a year. If this were after I had 36 months of 1SG time (including an HHC), I'd be all for this. But that's not the case.

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But I figured it was worth a shot to post on Rallypoint.
