This is an interesting read. The order to arrest members of the Royal family was given by the current Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman son of Salman bin Abdulaziz, the strongest contender to be the next King. The crackdown is being marketed as an anti-corruption drive, however bin Salman has been accused of orchestrating the campaign to subdue potential rivals within the royal family and the kingdom's economic establishment. The accused were also reprimanded for living to lavishly. Interesting since the Crown Prince himself lives very lavishly, purchasing a $300m yacht, and last year he paid more than $400m for a Leonardo da Vinci painting. What this is really about is control.

Very interesting. You know there was a largely undiscovered ancient history of Saudi Arabia waiting to be uncovered. The kingdom, until recently would not allow any archaeology.
I can remember looking at satellite maps of the Arabian peninsula in 1991 and one could say an amazing connection of ancient Caravan routes, Aqueducts, cities and other structures under the sand. A lost world.
