A federal judge has denied a request by a group of Catholic peace activists to dismiss charges against them for breaking into a nuclear submarine base in Kings Bay, Georgia, last year to protest nuclear weapons.

CW5 Jack Cardwell Part of being Truly Well Rounded in the Pro-Life Movement, Means Being against Nuclear Weapons, Against the Old School of the Americas, Against Capital Punishment. Being Brought Up in the Catholic Faith, I Understand. When I was Younger I remember a Nun with the Mary Knoll Sisters that was Locked Up for a Very Long Time for Trespassing at the School of the Americas. Truly People of the Faith.

CW5 Jack Cardwell Being stationed in London I got to meet and deal with CND Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Interesting Group basically Peaceful. 15,000 surrounded My Office and it was just like some kind of Street Party. Another time they hung outside RAF West Ruislip. One at a time They Would approach the fence with Bolt Cutters, Touch the fence with the Bolt Cutters and immediately be whisked away by the Bobbies at which point another would pick up the Bolt Cutters touch the Fence and get thrown in the Paddy Wagon Interesting Game to watch. Only Once while I was there did they do any damage. Snuck On To a Joint RAF/USAF Base and threw Blood Red Paint All Over an Aircraft,

I can respect some of their views, but not any expectation that actions don't have consequences. One of the primary reasons I am (generally) skeptical of this shade of "activism" (aside from the face that it's often futile) is that many "activists" seem to want protection from the consequences. I cannot admire the Confederacy for the reasons they started the Civil War...but at least they realized that firing on Ft. Sumter was an act of war. I don't think the Jacobite uprising of 1745 made much sense, or was worth the cost in lives...but at least those Highlanders put their blood where their principles were. There are effective, peaceful ways to enact change; run for office, serve in the Government, write your representative, vote in every election, or maybe spend hours on social medial debating the issues (lol!). There are also aggressive means of enacting change...like what the Continentals did at Concord, the Union Army did in Atlanta, or the Allies did at Normandy. Somehow, breaking into a naval base and splattering blood around doesn't seem to be one, or the other...trying to wheedle out of the penalty thereafter, just seems ignominious.
