This isn't how we should be using diplomatic immunity and it sure as heck isn't how we should be treating our closest ally.

I get frustrated when I read about some diplomat who commits a crime in this country and then flees under the guise of diplomatic immunity. Send her back and let due process take its course.
Apparently the State Department protects their own.

Absolutely not. That's the same diplomatic immunity that protects our service members in many cases.

Am familiar with SOFA and in some countries it makes a lot of sense...not the UK.

CMSgt (Join to see) - SOFA and diplomatic immunity are two different things, although they are somewhat related in practice.

Cpl Mark McMiller - OK, so you're wrong about that too. Is murder or theft acceptable in Islam? Or under Hinduism? Or under Shinto? Or any number of other religions? When all religions and non-religious communities prohibit theft and murder, then those are values that transcend a single religion.

Capt Gregory Prickett - I'm not arguing a single religion. I'm arguing the origin of morality. And my argument is that you aren't born moral, so if you were the only person on Earth, you wouldn't have a clue of what good and bad are. You learn morals as you go through life. And the morals you learn are based on standards of right and wrong that someone came up with at some time in antiquity that were passed down over the ages and ended up being what we just take for granted as being a good person. And I think those standards came from religion.

Cpl Mark McMiller - you realize that many of the religious standards are immoral, don't you?
