PBS: Carrier - Landing on a Pitching Deck Pt. 1

I just posted an awesome video showing the take off of two jets with an inside camera off the deck of the aircraft Carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt on relatively calm seas... This video shows the viewer a totally different scenario when the seas are not so calm... In this case the deck of the USS Nimitz is moving up and down about 30-feet in very rough seas in the Pacific Ocean! Watch the footage and the movement...then imagine you trying to land a jet onto that moving landing strip... Don't miss those jets that don't make it... This is not a video for the faint at heart, that is for sure... Being a pilot landing on a moving target and being a part of the flight deck crew is dangerous work!!!

Again, I suggest that you watch this FULL SCREEN with sound up... Best watched on the largest screen you have available...
