Maybe some AF type can explain what we're seeing in this video (that is if they're not too busy doing whatever they do). To the uninitiated it seems that the pilot is trying to give the ground crew a hot foot

SFC George Smith, that's the way they look on these internal launchers. When does the doors open and it is like a catapult that kicks the missile out and then ignites the rocket motor so it doesn't burn the paint off the side of the jet.

CPT Jack Durish the smoke that you see at the engine start up is the JFS (jet fuel starter) kicking on, unless it's called something different on the F-22s. It is what ignites the engine to get the turbines turning. It was always nice when the F-16s kicked these on in the winter time cause you get the blast of warm/hot air.

LTC (Join to see) - I am not 100% about this system. I believe it ignites an Aux Power Unit (APU) which slowly powers up the turbines. I was just a weapons system maintainer/loader.

Interesting video on this new expensive plane. I wonder if they could do other video where the F-16 latest model goes toe-to-toe against the F-35 in a dogfight I would love to see this happen over Nellis Air Force Base

Many years ago (sometime after the F-22 was officially deployed) I met an AF general at one of my clients. We had lunch together and he described how an F-22 took on 4 F-16's in a dogfight and defeated them all. Seemed damn impressive to me.

CPT Jack Durish / LTC (Join to see) we have the F-22 demo team here at Langley AFB, VA. I have sat outside and watched them practice all the time. It never gets old watching the capabilities of this machine. The next time I catch them practicing or showing off I will try to get some video on my phone and post it for y'all.
