Broken People

Brokeness, as a prerequisite to service? If you thought that you had to have it all together in order to serve, you haven’t served broken people before, and don’t realize that NOBODY “has it all together“, yourself included. If you thought that you knew all the answers, you haven’t heard all the questions.

The moment you start ministering from your own “strength“, thinking you have all the answers, you are setting yourself up for failure, because ministry WILL reveal your weaknesses and brokenness, and when you least expect it.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the

surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. (2 Corinthians 4:7)

Christian ministry is humbling, because God has entrusted His message to us, unworthy as we are. As I work on each week’s Bible session, I am reminded of the awesome responsibility I have to open the Word and rightly and accurately proclaim it because God will hold me accountable for any mishandling of His Word. This isn’t just any book, it is God’s Word.
