I know they are increasing telehealth opportunities at the VA. In my private practice, I offer telehealth sessions because I feel that it maintains continuity of care for many people. I hope that more health professionals will provide this resource to ensure that their patients can communicate with them in the mode that best works.

I remember I use to have a difficult time talking to my doc about stuff going on. But I had somebody I don't remember who. Probably a vet tell me that if I don't tell my doc what's going on then they can't do anything about it and in turn when I file for my disability I won't be able to prove anything. So that was the motivation I needed to start talking to my doc about everything when I was still on active duty and started getting everything documented. I'm not sure about virtual appointments like a phone call or video but there is a secure messaging system that I signed up on through myhealth through the va that I'm able to message my primary doctor. They were pretty good at first but they have gotten pretty crappy are responding. They are probably getting short handed at the VA I go to again.
