Did you get vaccinated? If not, why not?

At this point we have the numbers, as in billions of people got vaccinated. We have the science, vaccinations help. Yes, they will NOT prevent the Delta variant, but they will lessen the effects.

I got it because I work in the VA and work in healthcare in the army reserves. I knew it was coming down the line it would be mandatory for both so why not do it and get it over with and be protected. My wife did the same because she worked with immunocompromised children and she also is asthmatic. I had a not so great reaction to the second shot but hey it was better than getting covid.

I don’t begrudge or judge anyone for not getting the shot if they aren’t comfortable with it. Just like I don’t begrudge anyone for not getting a flu shot each year. I’m not going to force anyone to do anything they aren’t comfortable with when it comes to healthcare. Others might feel different.

maybe the union realizes that, as the judge in TX said, people who refuse the vaccine can go and work elsewhere.

Like I said a private company/business can do this, but a public sector position should not be able to and the fact that the unions didn’t even put up a fight should be a warning bell to any member of that union. MSG (Join to see)

A union is about the collective, not the singular. That is why when they negotiate it is called Collective Bargaining. State, Federal or local unions care (I hope) for the collective, vaccinations protect the collective.

They also set conditions for employment contacts. The requirement for a vaccine is a change in the employment contract. I don’t recall the union asking any of the members their thoughts or wishes. Like I said anyone who is a member of the union needs to be asking where their union dues are going to. MSG (Join to see)

I got vaccinated along with my wife. She is over 65 and diabetic so we cover all the bases we can.

However, I do not feel it is anybody's business whether anyone else chooses to get vaccinated or not.

Top, I have an issue with "it is anybody's business whether anyone else chooses to get vaccinated or not." My grand kids go to a pre-school, I care very much if the staff or the kids' parents don't get the vaccination. Within 100 yards of my house! one vaccinated family all got Covid because their kids got it from others. A friend of my daughter and her family all got Covid, they were not vaccinated, and the mother spent nearly two weeks in ICU, intubated. Yes, it is a personal choice, however it is a personal responsibility for all of us to contain the Chinese virus from further mutations. It is difficult when people don't care, send their sick kids to school and infect others.

MSG (Join to see) - I feel it is my responsibility to take care of me, and your responsibility to take care of you. If your sense of what is appropriate includes masks, self distancing, home schooling, etc., knock yourself out. I, however, have a right to live the way I want to and I believe everyone does. I will not fault you is you take very intensive precautions, and I will not fault those who do not. I do not feel I have the right to dictate to others how they should act to take care of me just because it is the way I feel I should be taken care of. That is, in my opinion, un-American.
