SSG Pelletier – Yours is a familiar story that we sometimes hear from our Members. At AAFMAA (aafmaa.com), PTSD, in and of itself, is not a disqualifier for life insurance coverage. There are Members that have undergone underwriting and received coverage while in treatment for PTSD. It just depends on one’s unique circumstances. If an applicant doesn’t qualify for an underwritten policy and is age 45 - 85, AAFMAA has recently introduced a guaranteed acceptance policy called the Veteran Survivor Plan, which requires no medical evaluation. Such a policy, whether from AAFMAA or another reputable organization, could provide a viable solution. These policies offer coverage to help a family defray a loved one's final expenses.
