Capt Dwayne Conyers was kind enough to post The Reverend Father Jim Martin discussing the moral imperative of welcoming migrant children. Reverend Martin asks "Why do people hate migrants and refugees?" https://goo.gl/JcPM9D

MSgt Ken "Airsoldier" Collins-Hardy - I think being exposed to different cultures. I have met many people from a wide variety of cultures I have also spent time overseas. I have never lost sight of my own culture and beliefs, but I have learned a lot about the good things other cultures can give us. One must be open to new ideas in order to grow.

In previous centuries before the social media explosion, sexual-slave trafficking and radical Muslim cells infiltration migrants were an acceptable part of the undercarriage of society. In the 19th century agricultural workers in California though laborers on railway construction and other migrants were railed against by some and welcomed by others.
Over the millennia migrants were created by warfare. Usually the losers were enslaved by the winners until the times of the Crusades. Serfs was another name for economic slaves in Europe while slavery was common in Africa and Asia
Since the early 1990s, sex trafficking, coyotes and other criminals have exploited illegal aliens to come into this nation.
The benighted leaders of southern and western Europe allowed unvetted Muslim "refugees" including terrorist cells and common criminal into their nations in 2016 to 2018. Their populations suffered because the Middle Eastern Muslim nations refused to take in those refugees.

UNICEF has never been a part of any solution to refugee problems. UNICEF is a part of the bureaucratic UN which only arrives at solutions by accident :-)

Everything you describe that was going on, especially in Europe, is part of the reason people risked their lives to immigrate to the New World. The lives and laws they set up in the future United States was much more tolerant but it took until the Civil War to totally eliminate slavery from accepted culture, and even then the attitude towards the status of former slaves persisted for years and in fact has not totally been eliminated. Unfortunately in the rest of the world the concept of slavery and economic slaves has continued to prosper. This fact alone, not to mention the rise of the drug trade and cartels, is what makes this nation a magnet for people fleeing that environment.
The concept of legal and illegal immigrants gets way more complicated. There is a legal way to immigrate to this nation and millions have followed it, but the process is cumbersome. People fleeing persecution in their home countries most likely do not have the time or opportunity to apply and wait so they leave their homes and become illegal in the first country they land in. These first countries are more than likely not to be much better than home, so the US continues to be a magnet that attracts them. In theory this is no problem because there are international treaties that provide a pathway for these illegals becoming citizens of whatever country they choose. The other type of illegals are those who come to this nation seeking work who may or may not have any desire of becoming a legal citizen as long as they can earn a living. IMO this is the group of illegals who are drawing all the complaints we see in the news but frankly many perform jobs that most Americans consider beneath them. Again IMO, this is also the group that is easiest to stop, just take away the jobs and they will stop coming. This brings me full circle back to your statement of migrants being an acceptable part of the undercarriage of society in the past. I would argue that this is still the case, if illegals are the scourge on the nation that some politicians claim simply stop hiring them.

Let's be clear. The problem has nothing to do with people. Not immigrants. Not aliens, legal or otherwise. The problem is in Congress. We have bad laws regulating immigration and the processing of refugees. We have members of Congress dedicated to getting reelected and having little time for little else. The genius of President Trump's Executive Order was to throw the problem right back in their lap and challenge them to do something about it. It is now incumbent on We the People to pressure Congress into doing the right thing. Whether we agree or not on what the "right thing" is, it's up to them to figure it out. That's what we elected them for. If they can't do the job, it's up to us to replace them and the opportunity for doing that is but a few months away. The one factor that is getting in the way is ideological. Some want a nation and others want power, power they can only possess by opening the borders and flooding the polls with voters who have no concept of living as free people, taking responsibility for themselves. They want voters who are servile.

MSgt Ken "Airsoldier" Collins-Hardy I have nothing to offer. We are in a battle of wills. Who will prevail? Those who fight. Thus far the Left has been routing the opposition because the opposition has only just begun to engage.
