Should essential employees have access to counseling during this COVID-19 and what is the reason for your position?

Persons close to me have expressed fears about their work environments and infecting their families. The stress of reporting to work is weighing heavily on many individuals knowing they are the providers for their families. I think employers should have an Employee Assistance Program made available to employees, to access without fear of reprisal, of dismissal from their jobs.

I think they need someone who can honestly lay out the “true facts” and explain how to be protected. I don’t think it is rocket science, rather it is common sense and application of the safety protocols.

PO1 H Gene Lawrence I agree that the protocols should be followed to the latter. In addition, the constant nagging fear if the unknown creates much emotional pressure.

I once was lucky enough to keep one of my sailors from killing himself. We got him the help he needed and he finished his 20. I am a big believer that mental health should ALWAYS be available to whoever needs it whenever they need it. The problem with this virus is there is so much disinformation, and people frankly talking out their butts, and it scares people.
