Help?
Had to bring in a buddy today, for mental health. He questioned if things were real on the way. Has anyone else experienced this? He's good, at the VA and awaiting transfer to psych. Currently is sleeping. Any help/ avenues of approach are greatly appreciated. I am going to reach out to military one source and or a veteran center for help after.

Be patient they are swamped!
Also, a good ole fashioned check-up from a Functional Medicine PhD would be helpful.
Other than that, not knowing any details, please take me seriously when I say I will pray now for both of you. What a good friend you are!

Let's hope he gets a good shrink. I personally don't have faith in VA. On my 5th. . Primary Dr. in 2 years. Sarasota Fl. Doctors continue to quit.

SGT Justin Brothen I volunteered as a DAV Service Officer for over a decade. I encountered many mental health scenarios. The VA is truly a veteran's strongest resource. Please believe this. Stay 100% proactive advocate for your friend. Get the involvement of his next of kin so that you won't have a road block concerning official relationship. Now, that he may be seemed not lucid, his giving you permission to be his next of kin may be void. Request the assistance of a social worker to cover the after care/event details and the keep him under a kinda of guardian. Immediately, ask that VA Hospital to have their in house Veterans Service Officer to place a claim for service connection compensation, if he does not have it. This is the VA National Hotline where questions get answered, veteran records can be reviewed, claims information can be reviewed, etc. [login to see] . Connect with next of kin; this is the kind of scenario where who is listed as his next of kin becomes important.

I called them to see if he was transferred, they were very upfront about everything going on with him.
