Remember, it also depends on what job you have in the military. Some are good, some suck. How fast you get promoted, your responsibilities, etc...you can make it happen. I went from being a refueler in the Army as an E1 to being a maintenance test pilot on the AH-64D Longbow, and made CW4. I’d say that’s a good company if one can do that.

You job, where ever it is, is what you make it. If you don't enjoy it, if you don't feel you are making a contribution, if you think it sucks....do something else.
