I won't drive less. I make too much money as a middle class ($80 grand a year income) to get back any tax credit. I will not drive less and I won't lower my thermostat to 50 F degrees to lower my heating bills. This taxation is a joke and its a tax on everyone for leftist environmental Kyoto junk science agenda.
People in Canada are getting fed up. They've raised gasoline prices $0.25 a gallon last year in order to comply with the Prime Minister Trudeau's carbon tax fraud scheme. They raised it another $0.10 a gallon last week. We do have cold here in Canada so our natural gas bills are about 20% higher. Natural gas is also under the carbon tax BS rule. Social justice Warriors and Liberals are not going to like the fact that President Trump in 49 states are not imposing a carbon tax. Only sucker California is stuck with it. 49 states are going to have a comparative advantage against California and against Canada.
Global warming has been happening since before the Industrial Revolution and that is because we are in between ice ages. The most respected climatologist , Dr. Judith Curry, is being kicked out of her climate Forum because she disagreed with the funny math of the climate change consensus groupthink which both Canada and California belong to.
When they say 97% of scientists agree there is climate change and that is caused by man, that is because the other 3% who disagree are not listened to but fired and kicked out of their field.
Climate science used to be science but now it's consensus group- think or you're out of the club.
Governor Jerry Brown, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canda and the European Union have been suckered by the Kyoto Accords. It is pick and choose science. Dr. Curry calls it 'the drunk and the street light' who lost his keys but only wants to look for his keys where there is light. He doesn't want to look for his keys were it's dark. It is junk science!

Interesting read- everyone wants to be responsible, but the climate change will happen with us or without us. Has for millions of years.

It is not that climate is changing, it is the rate of change. Sounds like what Curry explains does not dispute accelerated global warming, she is just saying there isn't much we can do about it. And I find it strange she points to a figure from 1940-1950 (post industrial revolution) for a comparison. I would think you would have to compare rates before and after the industrial revolution to get an indication of human contribution. When she says there isn't evidence or consensus, she is just plain wrong.
She does make a very good point about unintended consequences, especially with regard to policy, and alludes to how well intended policies can have bad results. Putting the brakes or at least slowing overreaching reactions has always been a benefit of the conservative mindset. It provides balance. But to claim that accelerated climate change is a hoax, much less a "Chinese hoax" is way out of the box. With today's technology, there may not be much we can do about it in the short term, and maybe we should be throwing immediate resources toward adaptive strategies rather than prevention strategies, but both have to be in the mix, and both rely on the ability to recognize accelerated climate change is real and ongoing. Ignoring or denying the problem isn't going to help. I am sure we will adapt over time, but how many people need to be hurt or will lose all they have during that time if we don't get out in front of the problem? Solar and wind energy may not cut it. I am a proponent of nuclear energy, but I understand how that is "scary" for many people, but with current and emerging technology, it can be very safe.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - I'm totally with you regarding nuclear power. We need to be building nuclear powerplants like it's cool. Greenies need to realize that solar and wind power will just never provide sufficient power on a scale the country needs, so if they don't like coal or petroleum or natural gas being used as fuel, they need to get on board with nuclear.
Regarding Curry, she's not saying there's no consensus among climate change scientists, she's saying any such consensus is scientifically meaningless. It doesn't matter how many scientists agree with something, and in this case, they stop being scientists and become advocates (my phrasing, not necessarily hers).

She is a threat to California, Canada and the European Union who are purposely putting carbon taxes and cap-and-trade system to supposedly mitigate climate change /global warming and she is saying it will take 50 years for it to make a difference and if you're lucky it will make two tenths of a Centigrade difference.
She also commented at ocean levels have been rising since the ice age and the ocean level is the same today as it was in 1940-1950. Tax and spend liberals/Democrats and Green Party people are scared she can derail their climate change carbon tax crusade.
Remember, it was former President Obama who said that climate change was the biggest threat to the world. He said that I believe to the graduating Coast Guard class a couple years back yet that same week, the Ayatollah from Iran was telling his military graduating class that we will not let United Nations or International atomic energy agency inspectors into our military facilities. President Obama, Justin Trudeau of Canada and others are worried more about something that may take decades to happen than the obvious evils of the world. I bet there are many scientists that are against her because she goes against their political agenda. Pass it on!
