Disgraced former Chicago Police Cmdr. Jon Burge, who was convicted of lying about torturing suspects, died at 70 in Florida on Wednesday. Burge was accused of leading a crew of rogue detectives who abused more than 100 African-American men. Allegations of brutal tactics to coerce confessions from suspects dogged the former South Side police commander and his subordinates throughout the 1970s and into the early 1990s. Suspects told horrifying stories about being beaten, burned, electro-shocked or suffocated with plastic typewriter covers and abused in other ways.

"The Fraternal Order of Police said it "does not believe the full story about the Burge cases has ever been told." The city police union has consistently sided with Burge and defended him against the accusations of torture"......man there is no possible way the FOP would actually say he or another cop is wrong. Heaven forbid they have an ounce of integrity and could call it as it is.
Not much has changed. Sure you have ha new Chiefs in charge of the PD, but they've been linked to having "ghost' jails in "unofficial" buildings and not allowing suspects to make phone calls or have meetings with attorneys.
"Chicago lawyers said they are routinely turned away from the warehouse, a towering brick warehouse that features floodlights and a razor wire fence". Aren't we allowed in Miranda to get a lawyer if we cannot afford one? So due process isn't followed, and the only ones hurt at the ones denied. Nothing to see here. Business as usual when there are no checks and balances, complicit elected officials (Emanuel yes you too, and it's good you're not running again), or like in the article, the records are so shoddy that no one outside of the place knows IN the place. Where was the FOP in this one again?
And they wonder why Kap takes a knee.....#ISTANDWITHKAP

People always make you happy, some when they come around and others when they go. Happy to see this person go. Even happier if he just found out God is a black woman and she is pissed.
