Having lived in SC when the discussion to remove or not to remove it  from the state capitol offended me to no end. My family has three dead in a family plot  who wore Union Blue. To hear many a person in that state of a particular persuasion it is all about heritage and people should mind their own business. I cry BS, it is a fallacy to think it has anything to do with heritage and nothing to do with racism.  I think these guys in this image  can easily dispel the heritage claim.

I do not disagree with taking down the flag, but I think that the flag was taken down for the wrong reason. Some idiot racist kid who killed innocent people at an AME church was shown in a picture with a confederate battle flag in the background. The flag had nothing to do with this tragedy. The flag is seen by many blacks as a sign of historical repression. I can accept this reasoning.

SMSgt Dr. G. A. Thomas If they have voted to remove it from the capital, then let's get the American Flag up over the capital, move on, and hope the issue will be forgotten, so we can move on to more important issues in that state.

As a black man, I say take the flag down from government buildings only, because government buildings should be for all the people. Having said that, it's a part of history, so leave it alone when it's flying from someone's private property or it's in a museum. Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.

Plus, I swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, and not letting someone fly this flag on their private property violates the Constitution.
