I read somewhere that the boom was from F-16's making a sweep ahead of AF 1 going back to Washington. All I can say is "Once upon a time in a far far away land."

I heard it and it shook our townhouse. At first I just thought it was a case of a thunderstorm where the lightning hits nearby, so the boom is right on top of you. But it's not really T storm season now. So then I thought a transformer across the street maybe had blown. And then I didn't think about it at all anymore, and wasn't aware it was a "thing" until I saw this thread.

When I was assigned to Eglin AFB in the '60s we were running low-level night flights over the area, and we got phone calls for us to get our damned B-52s out of their yard.

This was also tested at Eglin AFB several years ago, and would certainly have been heard in the area.
