I’m a fresh 42A getting ready to graduate AIT at Fort Jackson, my first duty station is going to be Fort Bragg, N.C. 18nd Airborne Division Corp and I was just wondering what’s it gonna be like just like any curious 18 year old kid coming out of AIT. If you do know what’s it’s like please don’t be afraid to give advice or tips I’m young and very eagerly waiting to learn more about the army and to be the best paper pusher at Fort Bragg. I plan on making the Army a career and solider for life so any advice on the future too is great!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Stay out of Sharky's on Bragg Blvd.
Never stay in the Airborne Inn. (Bring a black light if you want to see why)
Go to Airborne School if you can. Bragg isn't the place to be a Leg.
Your First line leader is very likely going to be a broke infantry bubba who ain't gonna jump no more. Try to give them a wide berth; they are salty.
Womak is excellent at orthopedics, less so at general practice health care.
Be prepared to run Argonne Rd a lot. A lot a lot.
If you get a pass, check out Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach.

Unless you are already a money wizard, take care, be judicious with your finances and see if you can build a mini-bankroll. The Dave Ramsey link below will provide great financial guidance, if you are a learner!
https://www.daveramsey.com/everydollar/
Act as though you are 30 years old; accustomed to being an adult and earning money.
Mary Ann and I enjoy cutting corners and buying stuff with ‘easy’ to use coupons CVS Drug sometime undercuts the PX.
Unless you have a car, be careful, shop, check Blue Book prices before you even start looking at cars. SHOP, shop! Use Uber for transport for a while. With knowledge and effort, you will be able to find a private seller, desperate for the $ his car will fetch. CASH MONEY talks! In a safe place to prevent being scammed!
Then, find an honest, independent auto repair shop for servicing of the car. Those independent shops are found by networking with others.
Dealers, lie, cheat, falsify and TAKE your dollars with a BIG smile!
Be STEADY and do not hurry into any transaction!
Do your job, pay attention to detail, learn to enjoy doing a great job. Shaddup!
When you have earned some respect from your peers and supervisors, then you may gently start having opinions and solutions to problems.
Easier said than done, yes!
Best wishes,
CSM
