Its not getting much news, But the military is doing a lot of "Radicalization" assessments and training. Between Boogaloo types attacking the US Govt, or the Jan 6th riot at the capital, or radicalized religous types killing other troops. Its a real issue and problem. Also sets up a snitch culture to report those you suspect, which might be valid, But undermines morale, especially if its not true.

If he had seen combat, I wouldn’t look past the possibility that PTSD had a hand in this incident.

We really do not want PTSD as a defense in violent crimes as the general public will start to see all with PTSD as violent people and start to take our rights away. Firearms would be the first to go.

MAJ Byron Oyler - on an individual basis, if it is part of the facts in a case, it can not and should not, not be considered.

PO1 H Gene Lawrence - Yes & No on the PTSD, But since PTSD is a catch all for what is in reality a variety of issues, its dangerous and a bad precedent to simply label & excuse conduct as........."Well, you know, he has PTSD". Instead, of NO! The A**Hole had a psychotic break and shot & murdered 4 people. PTSD doesnt do that. So, moving fwd, anyone with PTSD is labeled a liability. Another member on here now retired, with a exemplary career in LE, Told me his PTSD made him an excellent cop. Heightened his skill set and kept him alive. Dont ever let someone label all mental illness with a broad label. Can PTSD be a contributing factor? SURE! So can stopping your anti-psychotic medications for Schizophrenia or Bi-Polar mania. But one has the potential for criminal activity and the other not so much.

Except that society has bestowed the PTSD moniker on every single person who claims it now. "I have PTSD someone called me a bad name"
