Ok check it out. I have a large firearms collection of various types including ar15s, m1a's, and 1911s etc. I cannot for the life of me get a straight answer on this. Do i bring them and register them keep at my on post house an take to the range on post while locking my pistols up at the outdoor rec (dont have a nys pistol permit) and sign them out for range use. Need some direction. I have over 10rd mags also. Would rather not leave with family at home in ohio as thats a burden to my senior parents also my wife and kids like to shoot. My fellow 11b's also dont know forsure. Any guidance would be helpful. Legal wasnt much

You don't. At least, not with all of them (ARs), and not with magazines with a capacity >10 rounds.
Your best course of action is to plan for their storage until you are there, in a unit, and in housing. You should also plan longer term storage or to liquidate those you don't want to store long term.
Although you didn't ask, I strongly doubt you'd be issued a concealed carry permit. NY is a "may issue" state. They also don't have reciprocity with other states.
The link to Ft Drum webpage on this issue is very clear.

Simple but pointed advice: be VERY careful with any firearms in New York State. I currently work as a civilian DoD Personnel Security Specialist and am handling a case involving a DoD civilian who was a sheriff's deputy in Illinois and then moved to Ft. Drum. They still had their service weapon and were arrested and charged with a felony because they didn't register it. Suffice it to say that New York is not a firearms friendly state. Make sure you study all of the firearms laws thoroughly so you know what you're getting into.

If you live on post, you'll likely be required to register them with the Provost Marshal. If you live in housing, you should be able to keep them at your place. If you live in the barracks, you'll be required to keep them in your unit's arms room. The size of your collection might raise alarm bells though.

Nor can I, Major. However, I was born and raised there. Unfortunately NYC sets the pace for the entire state and has the votes to enforce life for the rest of the state.
