Army identifies Fort Hood soldier found dead at home

A Fort Hood soldier who was found unresponsive in his off-post home on Friday has been identified.
Officials at the Texas post said Spc. Korey Deonte James died in Killeen, Texas, according to an Army press release.
The 21-year-old had been assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood since January. He had served on active duty since August 2014 as a food service specialist, according to the release.
James’ awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
The Killeen Police Department is investigating the incident.

On the one hand I am saddened by this death and the other I am angry that so many soldiers are dying under non-combat conditions.
I am thankful that the family of SPC Korey Deonte James has been notified about his death at his Killeen, Texas home near Fort Hood SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL since DoD and Army do not release a deceased service member until family has been notified.
Prayers for the family and friends of SPC Korey Deonte James as they grieve his death.

It is sad when a fellow soldier dies SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL, under any circumstances. Unresponsive could mean a lot of things. When I was stationed at Fort Hood after I returned from Vietnam, the soldier in the bed across from me did not wake one Sunday morning. Turns out he suffocated on his own vomit after a night of drinking. Was sad for the whole unit and especially me as I drank with him plenty of times. A fellow New Yorker too. :-( LTC Stephen F.

this is not good... there has been way too many sudden and mysterious Deaths at Ft Hood...

Wonder if they are putting these together to see if anything is amiss. Perhaps a new drug or a drug that has been tampered with?

They need to look at everything, when I was there at Hood for 2 tours I can't remember one death something is going on
