RIP brother. From our time in Germany together and Afghanistan when you were our line medic before you became a flight medic. Being your roommate after deployment gave me some of my greatest memories from Germany. So many people love you and I wish you could see how much we already miss you. I hope I'm lucky enough to run into you in another life.

As someone who does this type of training a lot, I'm interested in seeing what went wrong. Was it a hoist malfunction? Was the cable cut for some reason? Was he not properly fastened to the hook? This task is one of the more terrifying things that I've done. There's always a huge pucker factor whenever you have someone connected to that cable.
