Basically, I'm probably going to drag my family with me to Reserve Captains Course (two sets of 2 week orders broke by a few days in between). So my orders wont support putting them up in the Ft Lee hotel (let alone the dog). I played this game before at Ft Lee BOLC and even arranged for my first kid to be born there in Richmond while I was in BOLC on USAR orders. But I was helped by BAH (helped a lot actually), and that was 4+ months (basically stayed out there nearly 6 months), and I just straight up got an apartment and furnished it via a 3+ month lease.

I'm just testing the waters here with the RP community for potential similar experiences with CCC.

Worst case I eat hotel costs. Second worst maybe I find an Air-BNB.

just curious as to why you'd uproot your family for 4 weeks?

I was thinking that myself Sir. To each their own, but 4 weeks will go by in no time flat.

I am the stay at home dad. Wife has work situation that would support her presence in the area. An entire month of orders is just too much, and I've been having to just eat that kind of situation for the last 4 years.

Another COA I am looking into (which I doubt will work) is if I can span Phase 1 and Phase 2 by more than 365 days and in two different FY's. If I could do phase 1 in two weeks and phase 2 in two weeks and entire year+ later that would be ideal. If I do that now, early in my CPT years it wont impact my PME timeline.

I think phases have to be within 365 days of each other (I know the on-line portion does), and I couldn't realistically plan on a late FY phase 1 and a early FY phase 2 the following year. Waiting to hear back.

Air BnB would be your best option. I haven’t been in the Ft. Lee area since 2004 but there ain’t much to do in that area beside the crater from the civil war. But having the family along is priceless!

For a number of people, renting an apartment is the best option. This article https://www.nyrentownsell.com/blog/what-are-the-pros-and-cons-of-renting-furnished-apartments/ will discuss. You can find furnished apartments for rent on your own or through a realtor or an agency specializing in temporary housing. Either way, you need to do your due diligence so that the next time you move, you won’t have any regrets!
