My wife is leaving as a 12N this month to Ft Leonard Wood for BCT & AIT. Looking for any tips or advice? It is different now than when I went 18years ago. Along with covid it has changed things also.

I went to FLW for basic in the Summer 2019. So, not during COVID, but still a pretty recent summer. Only advice I have is to hydrate and wear sunscreen. Also, the ruck marches put a lot of female soldiers on crutches due to stress fractures. If I could go back the only thing I’d do different is build up leg strength more before shipping out.

I have to agree with you about hydrations and sunscreen. It is hot, humid and sunny there, most of the summer. I was there July - September, 1975. Some things just never change.

I haven't been since 2004 but Missouri in the summer is always the same - awful. Humid and hot. That never changes in the Midwest in that area. Then around October it's gonna start to get cold. I went to basic July - end of Sept. I think I left 1 Oct. It was windy and cold.

The weather can change in a split second too.
