I am a prior service E-5 army reserve 6 years and I am reenlisting into Active Duty 12T. Does anyone have some insight into what AIT in Fort Leonard Wood is going to be like for me?

The 12T course is pretty neat. Rite now its hot and humid here at FLW so be prepared. Classes are not far from the barracks and the course area is not far from MWR sites, make sure you brush up on your math skills, basic algebra is what I remember folks having the most problem with. Pretty much everything you will be doing is math centric. Soils analysis, concrete design, drafting, and surveying.
The PT program was pretty good and challenging as late as last fall, the 1SG was one of my former Soldiers in a previous unit. I do not know the current 1SG.
Prior service Soldiers train with the initial entry folks but are separated for after hours and sleeping.

I was stationed there and went OSUT 16 years ago, at that time our prior inserts were the only ones who had leeway, and from what I've seen while I was there everybody from BCT to AIT trainees "got off" at the end of the day and weekends and was on their own if that was what you're worried about.. they're unsupervised that at one point I had to yell at this trainee because they decided to yell to their buddy across the PT track that they had to "go #2" but in a vulgar way... UGH!
